What our HomeWorks Installation Service Includes
Every HomeWorks project we do covers the full scope:
- System design: zones, lighting scenes, keypad placement
- Pre-wire coordination (new builds) or wire audit (retrofits)
- Hardware installation: processor, dimmers, seeTouch keypads, Pico remotes
- Full programming: scenes, schedules, away modes, mobile app setup

HomeWorks QS vs. HomeWorks QSX System Installs - What's the Difference?
Both systems are enterprise-grade Lutron lighting systems. Here's how they compare:
HomeWorks QS is the previous generation. Thousands of DFW homes still run it and it works reliably — but it doesn't support Ketra intelligent lighting natively, and Lutron's development focus has fully shifted to QSX.
HomeWorks QSX is the current platform. It brings wired control, wireless devices, and Ketra into a single processor. Up to 10,000 zones. Cloud-connected from day one. Integrates with shades, HVAC, security, and audio.
It's what we recommend for every new installation today.
Neither system is DIY-friendly. Both require a certified dealer to design, program, and commission correctly.
New Construction vs. Retrofit Services
New construction is the cleaner path. We coordinate with your builder during rough-in, running dedicated wire for every zone before drywall goes up. No workarounds. No compromises.
Retrofit is more common than most people expect. HomeWorks QSX uses Lutron's Clear Connect RF wireless technology, which covers homes up to 50,000+ sq. ft. Most existing DFW homes can be fully converted without tearing into walls.
We handle both. And if you have an older HomeWorks QS system already in place, there's a direct upgrade path to QSX that often preserves your existing wiring and hardware.
Upgrading Your HomeWorks QS System to QSX
If your home already runs HomeWorks QS, you don't have to start from scratch.
Lutron released a Panel Link to QS Link Translator that allows legacy QS hardware to communicate with a new QSX processor.
That means you can access the current platform — including Ketra intelligent lighting — without gutting the system. In most cases, your existing wiring and keypads stay in place.
This upgrade path is one of the most underutilized options in DFW right now. Homeowners are sitting on solid infrastructure and don't realize QSX is within reach.
We manage the full upgrade: hardware swap, database migration, re-commissioning, and testing.
How Premier Lighting & Home Automation Gives You Better Lutron Lighting Control Services
We're a certified Lutron HomeWorks dealer based in DFW. Our certifications span HomeWorks, Palladiom shades, Ketra, RadioRA3, RadioRA2, Intelligent Lighting, and Vantage Lighting.
That's a short list of companies in North Texas who can say that.
We work with homeowners directly — no layers, no hand-offs to a subcontractor. When you call us, you talk to the people doing the work.
We serve the entire DFW metro: Plano, Frisco, McKinney, Allen, Prosper, Southlake, Westlake, Colleyville, Highland Park, and surrounding communities.
If you're building, renovating, or upgrading, there's no reason to delay the conversation.

FAQs About HomeWorks Smart Lighting Installs
How much does a Lutron HomeWorks installation cost in DFW?
Answer: HomeWorks QSX systems in Dallas-Fort Worth typically start around $25,000 for a mid-size home.
Full luxury installs — including shade integration, Ketra lighting, and third-party system connections — commonly run $40,000 to $80,000+. We provide a detailed quote after an in-home consultation.
What's the difference between HomeWorks QS and HomeWorks QSX?
Answer: HomeWorks QSX is Lutron's current flagship. It unifies wired and wireless control plus Ketra intelligent lighting in a single processor, with cloud connectivity and up to 10,000 zones.
QS is the prior generation — still reliable in homes that have it, but no longer receiving new development. For any new installation, we recommend QSX.
Can you upgrade an existing HomeWorks QS system to QSX?
Answer: Yes. Lutron's Panel Link to QS Link Translator allows legacy QS hardware to connect to a QSX processor.
In many cases, existing wiring and keypads stay in place — significantly reducing the cost of moving to the current platform. We handle the full upgrade process.
Do I need new construction to install HomeWorks?
Answer: HomeWorks QSX works equally well in existing homes. The Clear Connect RF wireless network covers homes up to 50,000+ sq. ft., making whole-home retrofits practical without major renovation.
Many of our DFW projects are full retrofits on established luxury homes.
How long does a HomeWorks installation take?
Answer: A typical whole-home HomeWorks QSX installation takes 3 to 5 days. Projects involving motorized shades, Ketra lighting, and third-party integrations may take longer.
We coordinate directly with your builder, general contractor, or interior designer on new construction timelines.
How does Lutron HomeWorks work?
Answer: HomeWorks runs on a central processor installed in your equipment room or utility closet. Every dimmer, keypad, shade, and sensor communicates through that processor — either over dedicated QS wiring or Lutron's Clear Connect RF wireless network.
You control everything from wall keypads, Pico remotes, the Lutron app, or a voice assistant. Program a "Good Morning" scene and one button raises the shades, brings the lights up slowly, and sets the temperature — all at once. The processor handles the logic. You just live in it.
What is the difference between HomeWorks and RadioRA 3?
Answer: Scale and depth. RadioRA 3 is wireless-only, supports up to 100 devices per system, and is a strong choice for mid-size homes or phased installs.
HomeWorks QSX supports both wired and wireless devices, scales to 10,000 zones, and is built for large luxury homes that need the highest reliability, the deepest integration options, and native Ketra intelligent lighting support. RadioRA 3 doesn't do Ketra natively. HomeWorks does.
What is the difference between Lutron RadioRA 2 and HomeWorks?
Answer: RadioRA 2 is a wireless-only system with a cap of 200 devices. It's a proven mid-range option, but it doesn't support Ketra natively and has less integration depth than HomeWorks.
HomeWorks QSX handles both wired and wireless, scales to 10,000 zones, and supports the full Lutron ecosystem — Ketra, Palladiom shades, and advanced third-party connections. If you're in a large home or want everything Lutron can do, HomeWorks is the right platform.
Does Lutron HomeWorks have an app?
Answer: Yes. The Lutron app gives you full control of your HomeWorks system from any smartphone or tablet. Adjust lights, activate scenes, control shades, set schedules, and make basic programming changes from anywhere in the world. Works on iOS and Android.
HomeWorks QSX also connects to Lutron Connect — a cloud platform that lets your dealer push updates and provide remote support without a site visit.
